It was a big afternoon for one of Notre Dame’s star running backs on Saturday’s NFL combine, as Jeremiyah Love dominated in front of front offices.

The Missouri native ran an impressive 40-yard dash, measured at 6-foot and 212-pounds, and has been compared to some of the top backs that he’ll soon join in the NFL. Love was clearly the top running back, but he could be putting himself in the conversation for the top overall player as well.

Sure the NFL is quarterback heavy with most drafts, but it’s looking like Love has a chance to buck that trend. With such a massive performance at the combine, social media was buzzing. Here are some of the top reactions after Love’s dominating showing.

Jeremiyah Love compared to former offensive player of the year Saquan Barkley

One of the best backs in the NFL, Barkley has an impressive resume. For Love to be compared to him is a lofty one, but if there is a player that can have the a similar impact, it’s him. Barkley was a bit bigger, but Love is just as fast.

Love lived up to the hype

There are plenty of players who claim to be 4.3 guys, but often they don’t live up to those “numbers.” Love did, as many expect him to run well, and that’s exactly what he did.

Love worked out as a receiver as well

Versatility is key in the NFL, and Love showed that he’s got that. He wasn’t the only Irish back that took reps at the position, as Jadarian Price also showed scouts what he’s capable of. We’ll look back as this pair as one of the best two that Notre Dame has had.

Love wasn’t happy with his 40-yard dash time

Jeremiyah Love just said he's "disappointed" with his 40-yard dash.

He says he wanted to run something in the 4.2s. https://t.co/V3Qk2z0Mp8

To me, it’s funny to be disappointed by the time that Love ran, but he could have more in the tank. He wasn’t that far off his goal, and even if he’s not happy with the time, it was still a very impressive number.

Jeremiyah Love second comparison, this time to Jahmyr Gibbs

Exact same time as Jahmyr Gibbs, which is my comp for Love https://t.co/DgOnStF2k2

Make it two comps to the best running backs in the game, as Love is a bigger than Gibbs, while being about the same speed. That alone is impressive, and it’s becoming pretty evident that the Notre Dame star is going to have a big impact for whoever drafts him.

Is Love a generational player?

I think it might be a bit early to say that, considering he’s never played a down in the NFL. Could he become one? Absolutely, but he’s showing the potential right now to be. it will be very interesting to watch how his professional career plays out.

Love as one of the top prospects in the last decade?

This is more of a statement that I can get behind right now, Love is definitely one of the best prospects that has come out over the last 10-years. His blend of speed and power is impressive, along with his explosiveness and gamebreaking ability. As we’ve known for a while, he’s the complete package.

Love better than last year’s top back, Ashton Jeanty?

Jeremiyah Love just ran 4.37 and his dad shook his head in disappointment. This young man is a FORCE. Beyond Jeanty.

— Skip Bayless (@RealSkipBayless) February 28, 2026

The answer is yes, he is as Bayless points out. Love played against much tougher competition, and still put up big numbers when healthy. It wasn’t just him being disappointed in the 40-yard dash time either, his dad was a bit displeased.

Love most likely won’t participate in Notre Dame’s Pro Day

Jeremiyah Love says he will not participate in Notre Dame’s pro day but “I’ll be there supporting my guys.”

— Drew Mentock (@AndrewMentock) February 28, 2026

After acing this test, it doesn’t make sense for Love to test again with his teammates. Most likely he’ll be there rooting them on and chatting with some of the NFL front offices who are thinking about drafting him. Maybe he’ll just do a few test, like trying to improve his 40, but don’t expect to see much of him on the field.

Love celebrates with a backflip

So @JeremiyahLove can flip too?!?!

It seems like pretty much everything Love did on Saturday was impressive, and this backflip was another big time feat. NFL teams most likely know that if they aren’t one of the top picks, they won’t have a chance at taking one of the top players in the draft.
