SN 140 Moments: No. 121 - Larry Mize chips in on 18 for miraculous 3 to rip Masters from Greg Norman originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

Arguably the greatest shot in the history of Augusta National, authored by an Augusta native.

After Larry Mize birdied the 72nd hole to join Seve Ballesteros and Greg Norman in a playoff, his second shot on the second playoff hole found him far right of the green, 140 feet from the hole. With Ballesteros already eliminated and Norman in much better position, Mize faced a difficult up and down on Augusta’s 11th hole to simply make par and extend the match. Instead, Mize two-hopped his pitch onto the green and watched his fall find the back of the cup for a miraculous 3. A stunned Norman missed his 50-footer to tie and Mize claimed the green jacket for his one and only major.
