LAS VEGAS -- The Philadelphia 76ers made the biggest move of the offseason with the addition of Jaylen Brown in a trade with the rival Boston Celtics. The Sixers are adding a 5-time All-Star, a 2024 finals MVP, and a guy who is coming off a season in which he averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists on his way to the All-NBA Second Team.

The Sixers are swapping out a 36-year-old Paul George for a 29-year-old Brown who is going to be one motivated player after being dumped by the Celtics. It appears Philadelphia came out on the winning end on this blockbuster, but of course, nobody will know until they throw the ball up and they play the game.

Rookie guard Labaron Philon Jr. gave his thoughts on Philadelphia adding Brown after Thursday's summer league win in Las Vegas.

"I would just say what he can do for the whole program really just make it easy for everybody else," Philon said of Brown. "He has that championship DNA, and I feel like as a young guy, that's somebody you want to look up to, somebody you want to learn from. I mean, somebody that has already been in that moment, and he can help all the other guys, too, that haven't reached that level yet. Help us get over that hump."

The Sixers, of course, have not been past Round 2 since 2001 led by MVP Allen Iverson. The Celtics won the title in 2024 with Brown leading the way. He will now look to help Philadelphia reach that mountaintop for the franchise's first title since 1983. Philon will look to be a part of that push.

"So really, just with him coming in, I feel like it's going to be special," the rookie guard added. "We're going to go at it at practice, and he's going to push me, and I'm gonna try to push him to get to the next level. Everybody's just getting better one day at a time."

With that being said, one has to wonder if Philon had his head spinning when seeing the notification pop up on his phone just like everybody else. It was a move that seemingly came out of nowhere, but this is also the NBA. Anything can happen. Philon is already familiar with that thought process.

"I mean, it's basketball," Philon finished. "Things happen. You gotta be ready for the next thing to come. So, when we got him, I feel like it was a really great pickup, but definitely just like it's the NBA, so really just like being able to control all the emotions and stuff like that, and being ready to play basketball."
