The Kentucky Wildcats may be known for their basketball program, but the University has produced a large number of all-time greats in every sport. The best of the best eventually find their way to the UK Athletics Hall of Fame.
This year, six former Wildcats will join that group, and it's a diverse set. Both the men's and women's basketball programs are represented, along with football, swimming, volleyball, and track. They bring with them multiple All-American nods, championships, and a slew of All-SEC honors.
Calhoun played for the Wildcats from 1981-1984, and was twice named All-SEC. However, those two nods were at two different positions. In 1983, he was nominated as a punter. Then, in 1984, it was as a defensive back. As a senior, he recorded a 44.6 yard punt average, and had seven interceptions.
Duckworth is one of the best to ever do it at Kentucky. He is a two-time national champion, and one of very few people to win the heptathlon and the decathlon in the same year. He won several honors, including being named as a first-team All-American three times.
Few can match the list of honors bestowed on Edmond during her time at Kentucky. She was All-SEC four times, and twice was SEC Player of the Year. She recorded 1,978 kills as an attacker, which is still a school record, and led the Wildcats to multiple NCAA Tournament runs.
Hedges-Ward played for the Wildcats from 1980-1983, and during that time she set the school record for assists, which still stands. She was also a terrific defender who led the team in steals each year she was there. She was a first-team All-SEC player with a total of 1,176 career points, 731 assists, and 272 steals.
Kidd-Gilchrist spent just one year with the Wildcats, but made a lasting impression on the program, and helped bring a national championship to Lexington. Known for his terrific defense, he also proved himself on offense in the NCAA Tournament, and was named South Regional Most Outstanding Player. He also earned first-team All-SEC and second-team All-American honors.
Seidt is one of the most decorated athletes in Kentucky Wildcats history. She received 21 All-American nods and made the NCAA Championships in all four of her seasons. She won 15 medals in SEC competition, and was named as the 2020 NCAA Woman of the Year.
