The Brooklyn Nets have the No. 6 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft after the Lottery knocked them down from the No. 3 pick despite being tied for the best odds of getting the No. 1 pick. Brooklyn still has the chance of ending up with a talented player with the No. 6 pick and while there are many players linked to the Nets, should they consider someone like Alabama guard Labaron Philon Jr.?

"Teams considering Labaron Philon will be drawn to his creativity. It's also difficult to find any worrisome holes in his statistical profile after he improved his shooting and finishing," Jonathan Wasserman wrote of Philon in his latest mock draft for Bleacher Report. Wasserman projects for Philon to be taken by the Charlotte Hornets with the No. 14 pick, but he also has Philon ranked as the 10th-best prospect in the entire class.

"He could slip to late lottery behind the young guards who may look more like natural playmakers. But unless Philon's slower release affects his three-point shot, there's a high likelihood his scoring ability will translate," Wasserman continued on Philon. Philon seems to be going in the late Lottery in most mock drafts, but the Nets should probably be more concerned with upside than anything else at this point in their rebuild.

Philon, 20, is coming off an elite sophomore season with the Crimson Tide in which he averaged 22.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 50.1% from the field and 39.9% from behind the three-point line. The Nets have been connected to players like Tennessee forward Nate Ament and Michigan center Aday Mara which could be an indication that they are looking for frontcourt help in this draft.

However, if general manager Sean Marks and the front office for the player with the most upside, Philon could be one of those picks that could change the outlook of the team if he hits his ceiling. Philon is one of many guards expected to be available around the No. 6 pick, but he might be worth considering given his positional size (6-foot-4, 185 pounds) and his proven ability to lead an offense as an elite scorer and playmaker.
