Seahawks get huge injury news on two key offensive playmakers for NFC Championship originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

The Seattle Seahawks were dealt some unfortunate news following their blowout win over the San Francisco 49ers, as running back Zach Charbonnet suffered a torn ACL and would miss the rest of the playoffs.

With a chance to win the Super Bowl and now backup running backs, the Seahawks needed to add someone. Fortunately, a younger back was ready to practice and come off IR.

And according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, not only is this running back (George Holani) being activated off injured reserve, but rookie tight end Elijah Arroyo is also being activated off IR to join the offense for the NFC Championship game.

Seahawks get huge injury news ahead of Rams NFC Championship game

"Seahawks activated RB George Holani and TE Elijah Arroyo off injured reserve ahead of Sunday's NFC Championship game versus the Rams," Schefter reports.

This is some massive news for the Seahawks. While Kenneth Walker III is a great running back, the Seahawks needed another back to spell him and come in when he needs a rest.

Velus Jones Jr. was the only option, and for this big a game, that was far from ideal. Fortunately, Holani will factor into the offense and should get a few touches against the Rams this weekend.

Arroyo is also a nice addition to the offense and will give Sam Darnold and the Seahawks offense just another weapon to use in the passing game.

While A.J. Barner has been great for the Seahawks, getting Arroyo back will give the Seahawks two great pass-catching tight ends and also have an extra receiving threat available if needed for the offense.

The offense is getting back to key playmakers, and to make room on the roster, Charbonnet and Bryce Cabeldue are headed to IR.

Against the Rams, the offense needs to be functioning at a high level. While these two aren't the difference-makers that Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Walker are, they are nice additions to an offense looking for any edge it can get over the Rams.
