Is Seattle Seahawks star Devon Witherspoon the best cornerback in the NFL?
Witherspoon made a case to be considered so last season, though other stars in the league including Pat Surtain and Derek Stingley Jr. have strong cases as well.
Pro Football Focus ranked Witherspoon No. 1 overall in their rankings of the top 32 cornerbacks in the NFL entering the 2026 season, above all of his peers at the position.
”Witherspoon finished 2025 as the NFL’s highest-graded cornerback,” PFF’s Dalton Wasserman said. “He played a career-high 461 snaps on the outside, but remains a versatile piece who can man the slot when needed. He recorded one interception, eight pass breakups and 13 pressures, including a sack in the Super Bowl last season. All of that production, combined with the fact that he’s an elite run defender, makes Witherspoon one of the most valuable players in the NFL.”
Witherspoon was a second-team All-Pro honoree in 2025. He helped the Seahawks win the Super Bowl at the end of the season with his superb play as a top cover corner, having allowed 8.5 yards per reception on the season. He carries quite the reputation heading into next season.
