Jason Myers didn’t walk away with the Super Bowl MVP trophy Sunday night, but the Seattle Seahawks kicker still put together a performance that won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
Myers drilled five field goals in Seattle’s 29-13 win over the New England Patriots, breaking the Super Bowl record in the process. Before Sunday, four different kickers had managed four field goals in a Super Bowl. Myers pushed past that and made it look easy.

But that wasn’t even the biggest part of his night. Those 17 points brought his season total to 206, which is now the highest single-season scoring mark by any player in NFL history.
Nobody has ever crossed 200 points in one season before. The previous record belonged to Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson, who had 198.
Seattle leaned on Myers all season long, and he delivered every time they needed him. He connected on 41 field goals during the regular season and racked up 171 points, leading the entire league in scoring for 2025.
That continued into the playoffs without any drop-off. Myers put up 11 points in the divisional round when the Seahawks demolished the San Francisco 49ers 41-6. A week later, he added seven more in Seattle’s 31-27 win over the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship.

He came into the Super Bowl sitting at 189 points for the year. After what he did on the game’s biggest stage, plenty of people thought Myers deserved serious Super Bowl MVP consideration.
If he had won, he would have been the first kicker to ever take home the award. Either way, Myers made history and probably isn’t losing any sleep over the rest.
