Scotland XI vs Ivory Coast – Predicted lineup and team news

Scotland face the Ivory Coast in an international friendly on Tuesday as both teams continue their build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The game will be played at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool.

Scotland’s latest match ended in a 1-0 defeat to Japan, so Steve Clarke will be looking for more sharpness in attack and a better overall tempo.

Before that, Scotland had sealed their World Cup place in dramatic fashion, a reminder of the resilience and big-game mentality Clarke has tried to build.

Scotland team news

Clarke has said he wanted this kind of test against African opposition before Scotland face Morocco in their second World Cup group game, which means he is likely to put out a strong side against the 2023 AFCON champions.

There may still be a few changes from the Japan match, though the underwhelming performance means several positions remain open.

Ryan Christie, Kieran Tierney, Billy Gilmour, Anthony Ralston, George Hirst and John Souttar could all be in contention to start.

The biggest decision is up front. Lyndon Dykes was replaced by George Hirst after about an hour against Japan, so the Ipswich Town forward may get the chance to lead the line.

Tommy Conway will also hope for an opportunity after being used out wide, while Che Adams offers Clarke another experienced option.

Scotland predicted lineup

Possible Scotland starting XI: Gunn; Ralston, Souttar, McKenna, Tierney; Christie, Gilmour; McGinn, McTominay, Curtis; Hirst

When will the match kick off?

The match will kick off at 6:30pm BST on Tuesday, 31st March.
