The Yankees game on Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays has been postponed due to the forecast of sustained inclement weather, and will be made up as the second game of a doubleheader on Sunday, April 27, the team announced.
The first game of the single-admission doubleheader will begin at 1:35 p.m.
New York fell to Toronto 4-2 on Friday night in the first game of the three-game set, as closer Devin Williams blew the save and allowed three runs in the ninth inning. Williams has struggled in his first season in the Bronx and the team appears to be ready to make a temporary change at closer due to his recent outings.
Clarke Schmidt (0-1, 7.45 ERA) was scheduled to start Saturday's game and is expected to take the mound in Game 1 on Sunday. He allowed five earned runs over 4.0 IP in a loss to the Cleveland Guardians last time out on April 21. He'll face veteran Chris Bassitt (2-1, 1.88 ERA), who had only allowed two runs prior to letting up four in his last start on April 22 against the Houston Astros.
The Game 2 starting pitchers have yet to be announced.
