Zoe Harrison (left) celebrates her second-half try in Saracens’ 52-14 victory - Gaspafotos/MB Media/Getty Images
Saracens are back on their throne as the queens of England, regaining their regal status as Premiership Women’s Rugby champions. Against an Ealing Trailfinders side that promised much but ultimately delivered little, they showed the sort of finesse required for a final, thumping their London neighbours in an eight-try victory.
It was Marlie Packer, on her final dance in a Saracens shirt at the ground where she will play next season, who inspired Alex Austerberry’s business-like outfit to a resounding win. She has been a figurehead of this side for so many years and it was fitting she ended her story here by writing one final emphatic chapter.
Even as she skipped off the grass after being shown a yellow card for kicking the ball away as Saracens were 45-7 up, the Red Roses veteran walked off the pitch with a huge grin across her face.

Not that it blighted her vintage performance. She marked her 121st and final appearance for Saracens with two first-half tries as the north Londoners ran riot and imposed themselves on a Trailfinders side who were competing in their first league final.
Jess Breach scored two second-half tries, while Red Roses fly-half Zoe Harrison was instrumental in orchestrating Saracens’ business-like aura around the pitch. The pair combined for a sumptuous score not long after the break, by which point it was a damage limitation exercise for the west Londoners.

Saracens lift the PWR trophy
It’s Zoe Harrison, who has steered her team to victories all season, who is the last player to receive her medal and is handed hte trophy. Sportingly, she beckons Marlie Packer over and although some of the Saracens girls have gone a bit early with the champagne popping, the pair lift the trophy aloft together.

FULL TIME: Saracens 52 - 14 Trailfinders
That’s it, all over here at The Stoop. Harrison boots the ball out shortly after the restart and Saracens are the PWR champions and win their first league title in four years!
What a performance from Alex Austerberry’s side, who dominated from started to finish and put Ealing to the sword in a clinical eight-try performance. Even when they had 14 women on the pitch they looked like they had a full complement, such was their sheer physicality.
Credit to Trailfinders, who will surely take learnings from their first league final. They were second best today and came up short in the collision battle but they can be proud for making it this far, just three years into their existence as a top-flight women’s team.

78 mins TRY Saracens 52 - 14 Trailfinders
Saracens look to finish with a flourish as Breach goes in again after being fed by Corrigan on her inside for an easy run-in. It was a bit messy in the build up, but it doesn’t matter how they’re scored.. Harrison again nails it from the tee.

73 mins Saracens 45 - 14 Trailfinders
The game is starting to unravel a bit, with neither side able to keep possession. Saracens know they have this one in the bag, as Packer takes her place back on the pitch for her last few minutes in a Sarries’ shirt and immediately begins throwing herself about. Trailfinders have tried to get their wingers on the ball but they lack the venom to really penetrate Saracens out wide. Sarries fans inside the Stoop are already looking at the clock anc counting down until they can celebrate.

Kate Zackary, formerly of Exeter Chiefs, has played her final game in a Trailfinders shirt and she walks off the pitch to a huge ovation. The US flanker has been one of my favourite players to watch in the PWR in recent years - she’s been without doubt a huge addition to the league and a brilliant ambassador for the women’s club game over here.
A lovely farewell for a legend of the sport

TRY! 62 mins Saracens 45 - 14 Trailfinders
Trailfinders make the most of the extra player and Burton, who has been a trojan horse for Trailfinders all seaason, burrows over. Gallagher adds the extras.
04:28pm
62 mins Saracens 45 - 7 Trailfinders
Trailfinders have upgraded their entire front row and it seems to have something of an impact, as Saracens’ discipline is starting to waver as they camp on their own tryline. Trailfinders win a penalty and Packer is shown a yellow card for kicking the ball away.
04:16pm
52 mins - TRY Saracens 45 - 7 Trailfinders
Order is restored as Saracens, seemingly unfazed by Trailfinders’ score, fly down the pitch. Apps, who has been brilliant all afternoon, finds de Goede, who glides forward with another piercing line, who in turn finds Harrison as a support runner. It’s too easy as the fly-half zig-zags her way to the whitewash, before converting her own score.

50 mins - TRY Saracens 45 - 7 Trailfinders
Ealing are on the board and give their fans inside The Stoop something to cheer about. They show patience and persistence as they advance into Saracens’ 22 after a fine run from Laflin and after a few phases Maya Montiel crashes over.

46 mins - TRY Saracens 33 - 0 Trailfinders
Trailfinders have now been hit for six. This time Corrigan spins out of a tackle and goes over in the corner with a big fend and an even bigger finish after a fine pass from Breach under pressure. It’s now a case of damage limitation for Trailfinders.
04:03pm
42 mins - TRY Saracens 33 - 0 Trailfinders
Seconds into the second half and Saracens have a fifth. Harrison finds Breach, who uts a beautiful line, and the winger storms through. It’s a superb inside ball from Harrison and looks straight off the training park. Breach doesn’t need Apps on her shoulder, as she blitzes through and dives under the posts. Ealing look shellshocked.

03:51pm
Half time: Saracens 26 - 0 Trailfinders
And that’s the half time whistle.. Saracens, four tries to the good, are in cruise control. They have obliterated Trailfinders with their forward pack and have really shown their experience in finals. Marlie Packer, in her final game for Saracens, has been immense. Trailfinders, who have lacked that finesee in big moments, have a mountain to climb.
03:49pm
38 mins Saracens 26 - 0 Trailfinders
A frantic end to the half as Trailfinders advance up the pitch and sniff a first score. Gabby Senft is shown a yellow card for an infringement and Harrison just about survives picking one up too, as replays show she didn’t deliberately knock-on Norman-Bell’s pass.
03:46pm
35 mins Saracens 26 - 0 Trailfinders
Sophie de Goede picks up from the scrum and charges forward - she feeds Apps on her shoulder and the scrumhalf races through to clear. Harrison tees up the conversion.. but wait.. The TMO has spotted a knock-on in the build up - it’s Gregson who is the offender. She looked like she gathered Gallagher’s pass square and fair - but replays show she fumbled it as she brought it to the ground. Apps’ try is chalked off.
03:37pm
32 mins TRY! Saracens 26 - 0 Trailfinders
It’s already turning into the Marlie Packer show. Saracens are in total control and Trailfinders’ heads are down. They pour forward again. Saracens zip the ball out to Alysha Corrigan, who powers up the wing with a couple of strong fends and manages to keep hold of it - they have a real spring in their step now - before they work it to Gregson on the other wing, who sailes through goes untouched. Harrison nails the extras from out wide. This is already getting ugly for Trailfinders..
Sarries CANNOT be stopped

03:34pm
30 mins TRY! Saracens 19 - 0 Trailfinders
For all the field position that Trailfinders have had, they have literally nothing to show for it. Saracens, from a scrum on Trailfinders’ 22, work the ball efficiently down the short side and Gregson checks back inside off her wing to chip her opposite marker. Apps chases hard and follows up with a fine support line and from there their forwards do the remaining work. It’s Packer again who crashes over from close range. Harrison adds the extras.
WHO ELSE?!

03:27pm
TRY! Saracens 12 - 0 Trailfinders
And just like that Saracens are two tries to the good. Trailfinders kick the ball away from their own half straight down the throat of Harrison, who responds by pinging a sublime 50:22 into Trailfinders’ 22 to give her side a great attacking opportunity. That was epic. Saracens keep it close among forwards and eke towards the tryline as Ealing are penalised for offside and cough up a pen. Packer looks to tap-and-go quickly but she can’t - so Field does and charges forward - before Packer, in her final dance in black and red, crashes over. Harrison misses the conversion.
03:22pm
20 mins Saracens 7 - 0 Trailfinders
Trailfinders look to muster an immediate response and enjoy a good spell of possession in Saracens’ half, but their big ball carriers aren’t quite making an impact at the moment, as Zachary spins out of tackle and Trailfinders shift it to the right through Inman but Harrison is there to snuffle the ball, but the yellow shirts continue to cause a nuisance and Saracens can’t keep hold of it. Trailfinders continue to advance and from a scrum Norman-Bell looks to wheel round and go by herself but she is pounced upon by Packer and Saracens win a penalty.

03:15pm
13 mins TRY! Saracens 7 - 0 Trailfinders
Saracens’ turn to try and make something of a first proper foray into Trailfinders’ 22, but Marlie Packer, who takes up a position out wide, is well marshalled into touch by a trio of yellow shirts. They regather as Trailfinders make a mess of the lineout and continue advancing, keeping it tight through the forwards as they work towards the whitewash…and Julia Omokhuale burrows over! Harrison makes no mistake from the tee.
03:11pm
10 mins Saracens 0 - 0 Trailfinders
Saracens are having to ride an early storm and are stringing some defensive sets as Trailfinders come forward again with their crisp passing on show. Leatherman, the loosehead prop, makes some fine ground and puts Cox through a gap and the centre advances into green space as Trailfinders continue to try and work an opening. Gallagher puts boot to ball and tries to pick out winger White with a cross-field kick but she overcooks it and Saracens survive with a lineout five metres out from their tryline and manage to clear. A fast and furious start to this match.
03:06pm
5 mins Saracens 0 - 0 Trailfinders
Zoe Harrison gets us underway and Trailfinders immediately knock on in the opening exchanges. Saracens look to work it wide after an easy scrum and Harrison sells a dummy to advance a few metres and exploit an early attacking foray, but Trailfinders’ defence holds firm. They win the ball back and break through Meg Jones down the right - she finds Laflin on her shoulder and the winger hoofs it upfield. Saracens’ defence has to scramble back and Corrigan just about does enough to hold out the advancing Norman-Bell but it’s messy and Trailfinders camp the north Londoners in their own 22.

The Stoop is rocking

Looking around how many people there are at The Stoop I wonder if we could be close to a record crowd attendance for a PWR final. The place is absolutely buzzing and the eagle eyed among us from the press gantry have spotted Gary Street, the World Cup winning head coach of England in 2014, and former coach of Harlequins, catching up with Emily Scarratt and Katy Daley-Mclean on the pitch. Great to see him looking so well after his much documented health struggles.
No prizes for guessing who received the biggest cheer as the teams are read out.. huge cries for Marlie Packer, who will be playing her last game today for Saracens at the place where she will play next season.
02:40pm
Who will be crowned queens of London?
Ealing Trailfinders have been repeatedly blocked from playing in the men’s Prem but on Sunday, the club have a chance to prove that they are worthy of mixing with the game’s elite.
Trailfinders finished fourth, 27 points behind table-toppers Gloucester-Hartpury at the end of the regular Premiership Women’s Rugby season, only to stun the three-time champions in their semi-final a fortnight ago to reach this weekend’s final against Saracens.
Their 46 per cent win rate might belie their status as finalists in a fragmented and chaotic season for many of the PWR’s usual heavyweights but, in the big moments, they have delivered.
This is only Trailfinders’ third season in the women’s top flight, with their previous finishes sixth and seventh, but now their chance to become history makers awaits. This would not only be their first title, but no team who have finished fourth in the regular-season table have ever gone on to lift the trophy.
Telegraph Sport looks at the key factors in Trailfinders’ breakthrough PWR season.

Good afternoon!
Welcome to our live coverage of today’s Premiership Women’s Rugby final at Twickenham Stoop, where Saracens and Ealing Trailfinders square off in an all-London finale.
What a match-up we have in store this afternoon. Saracens are chasing their fourth domestic title - and first since 2023 - while Ealing, who only joined women’s rugby’s top flight three seasons ago, are on the hunt for their first after finishing the regular season with a flourish.
Saracens will be the favourites having finished second in the table in comparison to Trailfinders’ fourth. The North Londoners have also never lost to their neighbours and will be full of confidence heading into the final at the Stoop. Alex Austerberry’s side have been the most consistent side this season and are full of savvy operators and robust ball carriers - not to mention their pivotal half-back partnership of Zoe Harrison and Olivia Apps.
Trailfinders, though, are also riding high after an exceptional finish to the season. The West Londoners beat reigning champions Gloucester Hartpury in back-to-back games, first qualifying for the semi-finals, before upsetting The Circus at home to reach the final.
Meg Jones, the Red Roses captain, was excellent throughout both contests - she has been Trailfinders’ talisman all season - and will be crucial for Barney Maddison’s outfit. A reminder that today’s match is available to watch live on TNT Sports and BBC iPlayer, but you can also follow live updates here.
