Congratulations are in order for Roman Harper. The former New Orleans Saints safety and Super Bowl XLIV champion has been chosen for induction to the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2026. He'll be enshrined along with Jason Campbell, Booger McFarland, Norv Turner, and Harry Agganis.
Harper was picked in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft after a strong college career with the Alabama Crimson Tide; he became a real asset as a pass rusher with New Orleans, blitzing quarterbacks and racking up 17 sacks through his first eight years in the league. He was recognized as a Pro Bowler in both 2009 and 2010 before leaving to join the division-rival Carolina Panthers, where his value as a leader was on full display in their Super Bowl 50 run. But Harper finished his career with the Saints and remains a fan-favorite in New Orleans to this day.
Now he's going to be remembered well outside of New Orleans, too. Harper will join some old Saints teammates at the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame like Terron Armstead (Class of 2025) and Cameron Jordan (2021). The Senior Bowl all-star game has given the Saints opportunities to find great players over the years. It's easy to see why it remains such an important part of their annual pre-draft process.
