Wayne Newton Post 346 (22-1) defeated Bryan Cox Post 72 from Crawfordsville 3-2 in eight innings Sunday afternoon at the Danville tournament to advance to the championship game later on Sunday.
Derrick Morrison delivered the game winning RBI walk. Tristan Deel went seven innings on the mound as he allowed five hits and struck out three. Noah Fields had two hits and a run scored while Hunter Mason tallied two hits, two walks and two runs scored with Colton Moore tallying two RBIs with a double.
Unfortunately for Post 346, the team dropped the championship game to Rock Island for just the team's second loss this summer to go to 22-2.
Trey Eldridge went 5.1 innings on the mound allowing three runs while striking out one.
Morrison and Lawson led Post 346 with two hits each.
Next — Post 346 plays at Danville at 7 p.m. EDT on Tuesday.
