Jermod McCoy was widely regarded as a steal when the Las Vegas Raiders selected him at pick 101 in the fourth round. The Tennessee star cornerback was projected as a first round talent prior to draft night.
The talented corner was sidelined throughout the entire 2025 campaign at Tennessee, as McCoy suffered a torn ACL in January which more than likely played a direct role in his draft night slide.
Raiders team media noted McCoy was practicing during Raiders’ OTA’s this week, and even seeing reps with the veterans on the first team, signaling that the corner appears to be recovering from his injury ahead of schedule.
Head coach Klint Kubiak noted that the rookie has "responded really well" to the Raiders training staff plan for him.
"He's been excellent.” Kubiak added. “He's come in here and worked his tail off, doing everything that we've asked him to do. He's got out there on the practice field and has shown the player that we've seen on tape, so just looking forward to progressing him, along with all those new DBs. It's an impressive group, really well-coached group by Joe [Woods] and Matt [Robinson] and Robbie [Leonard]. Very competitive young men right now in that defensive back room."
McCoy recorded 44 total tackles and four interceptions across 13 games at Tennessee in 2024. The rookie appears to be recovering well from his torn ACL suffered last January, and McCoy could quickly find himself with an everyday role in the Raiders’ secondary across 2026.
The Raiders will continue to closely monitor him throughout the entirety of the offseason, but the rookie appears to be right on track and may very well emerge as a star in Las Vegas this year.
