Richard Hughes wants £25m to sell Liverpool double title-winner

Liverpool are in the midst of a centre-back shakeup.

That process was begun last summer when Richard Hughes decided to pay £26m for Parma’s Giovanni Leoni. Jarell Quansh was sold to Bayer Leverkusen meanwhile - and the overhaul showed no sign of abating in January.

Liverpool have quoted Atletico £25m according to the report in Fichajes - although the Rojiblancos are hopeful of doing a deal at much less than that - around £9m to £13m.

What happens next remains to be seen. Gomez is Liverpool’s longest-serving player - but could be on the way out as a period of renewal is taking place around him. A bargain move to Atletico Madrid could now beckon.
