Philadelphia 76ers guard Kyle Lowry will reportedly call it a career. After playing only 14 games in the 2025-26 season with the Sixers and averaging 1.2 points while serving more as a veteran mentor to the team's younger stars and players, Lowry will head into retirement after 20 years in the league.
Per Michael Grange of Toronto SportsNet, Lowry will sign a 1-day deal with the Toronto Raptors and then retire. Affectionately nicknamed the GROAT (Greatest Raptor Of All Time) due to his contributions in Toronto, Lowry fulfills an accomplishment for himself as he stated all along that he wanted to retire as a Raptor.
Per Grange:
While Lowry played 2.5 seasons with the Sixers, which is also something the Philadelphia native wanted to accomplish, he will always be considered a Raptor. He was a 6-time All-Star in Toronto, was the leader of the 2019 championship team, and was an All-NBA Team member with the Raptors in 2016. He is beloved in Toronto and this is the perfect way for him to end his Hall of Fame career.

Per Grange:
Lowry played the last two-and-a-half seasons in his hometown of Philadelphia, but is returning to his basketball home to officially announce the end of his professional career, which includes leading the Raptors to the 2019 NBA title and earning Olympic gold with Team USA in 2016. The team has planned an event and press conference for Tuesday, July 7th — Lowry wore No. 7 — billing it to invitees as a “monumental moment” in Raptors history, per sources.
