Shedeur Sanders made headlines during the 2025 NFL Draft for a number of reasons.
Including a prank phone call from someone claiming to be New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis on Friday night. The call came to Sanders’ phone in which he had from Boost Mobile specifically for the draft.
Now the NFL is looking into the incident into how Sanders’ private number was leaked, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
A video surfaced on social media that is allegedly showing the prank call happening. The person in the video identifies himself as Loomis.
“It’s been a long wait, man. We’re going to take you with our next pick right here, man,” the person on the phone said.
Sanders replied with, “Let’s be legendary” before the person claiming to be Loomis said he’d have to wait a while longer and hung up.
The call came after Sanders didn’t get drafted in Round 1 on Thursday night.
“The number was only in an email thread that the NFL sent out to only teams,” Sanders said in a video.
Sanders was eventually drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the 144th overall pick. When asked about the prank call, the quarterback told reporters it didn’t have an impact him.
“It was just like, OK. I don’t feed into negativity or I don’t feed into that stuff,” Sanders said. “You see (my brother) Deion Jr.’s YouTube video, my reaction to it. This is what it is. I think, of course, it’s childish, of course I feel like it was a childish act. But everybody do childish things here and there.”
