The Blues are expected to be active this summer, with a number of positions needing to be filled in the squad after a quiet January.

Chelsea are said to still be in the market for a centre back, whilst they are reportedly looking to bring in another midfielder and attacker.

Chelsea among the clubs interested in Mario Gila

The Blues tried to sign a centre back in January, but failed in their pursuit of Rennes star Jeremy Jacquet, with the Frenchman opting to join Liverpool.

Chelsea did recall Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg, but are paying the price for not signing a replacement for Levi Colwill, who suffered an ACL injury before the start of the season.

There’s likely to be major changes at centre back over the summer, and Defensa Central have reported Chelsea are among the clubs looking to sign Gila.

The report adds Aston Villa are also interested, with Gila said to be valued at between €30-€35m by Lazio, but no offers have been made yet.

The Blues have been previously linked with Gila, who joined Lazio from Real Madrid in 2022, but his current contract expires in 2027, and there’s an opportunity for a cut price deal to be struck if he doesn’t renew his contract.

Chelsea face centre back overhaul in the summer

Whilst Levi Colwill will return next season, the Blues need to make some big decisions in regards to centre backs over the summer.

Both Tosin Adarabioyo and Trevoh Chalobah will have two years left on their current deals come the end of the season.
