The San Francisco 49ers receiver room will look a lot different in 2026.
Not only did the team sign Mike Evans on the first day of the legal tampering period before the official start of free agency and watch Kendrick Bourne agree to sign with the Arizona Cardinals, but there seems to be a strong likelihood that Jauan Jennings doesn't return to the 49ers either.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Tuesday that "it looks like the 49ers will be losing Jauan Jennings" this offseason. Schefter didn't provide much more color than that, but the firm commentary from one of the most respected NFL insiders surely indicates a bit of finality to the report.
Losing Jennings would be big after his 55-catch, 643-yard and nine-touchdown season this past year, but it wouldn't be a surprise. Jennings and the 49ers were in a contract dispute during the 2025 offseason before the two sides agreed to a restructured deal, and many pundits have predicted he will sign elsewhere this offseason.
With Bourne already gone and Jennings likely to follow, the 49ers are left with a pretty barren receiver corps behind Evans. Brandon Aiyuk is still technically a part of the team, but all signs point to a mutually parting of ways. That leaves Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing as the next men up behind Evans, especially with tight end George Kittle recovering from an Achilles injury. Christian McCaffrey could see another big workload in 2026.
