The 2026 season for the Boston Red Sox has not gone to plan whatsoever. This team is very much trending towards selling at the MLB trade deadline at this rate.

While Aroldis Chapman is the most popular name, the Red Sox are also likely to explore trading from their outfield to finally clear up the logjam. Such a trade would make a lot of sense for this team.

Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report agrees and is urging the Red Sox to finally cut ties with All-Star outfielder Jarren Duran this summer. After years of trade rumors, it's finally time to move on from Duran.

"It just feels like the possibility of eventually getting traded has loomed over Duran for a few years now, with Boston also having Roman Anthony, Wilyer Abreu, and Ceddane Rafaela in the outfield mix," Kelly writes. "Eventually, that has to wear you down, and a change of scenery could probably do the 29-year-old some good."

While the Duran trade rumors have only been going on for a little over a year now, they've been so pervasive that it's hard to imagine these rumors not impacting Duran at least a little bit.

Last year, the San Diego Padres were strongly linked to Duran, and there were plenty of other suitors for Duran last year at the MLB trade deadline.

Even during the offseason, Duran's name was floating around in rumors often, though he was never traded. But Kelly believes the Red Sox need to change that this year.

Not only would it make sense for the Red Sox to trade him now, during a lost season, but it would potentially help Duran find a new home and get back to his All-Star caliber production.

As clear sellers, the Red Sox should be looking to move on from Duran this season. It might not be a large return like it could've been after the 2024 season, but they should still get something back for the .764 OPS career outfielder with two years of club control.
