Red Sox Uncertain Why They Can't String Together Wins originally appeared on NESN. Add NESN as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Boston Red Sox pitcher Sonny Gray admits he isn’t sure why the team can’t get momentum and go on lengthy winning streaks.
Boston has struggled at home, as the Red Sox are 8-17 at Fenway Park, which is a surprise. The Red Sox entered the season with plenty of promise, but Boston has gotten off to a slow start as the Red Sox have struggled to go on a lengthy winning streak, which veteran starter Sonny Gray isn’t sure why.
“I’m not sure, I’m not sure,” Gray said about why Boston can’t build on momentum.
Veteran infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa also echoed Gray’s words as he believes the Red Sox are still searching for that answer.
“I wish I knew,” Kiner-Falefa said. “I think everybody in here is trying to figure that out. We know we have to be better.”
The Red Sox were swept at home by the Minnesota Twins over the weekend to fall to 22-30 on the season and are in last place in the AL East. However, despite the slow start, Boston is just three games back of a Wild Card spot.
Boston will return to the field on Tuesday for a three-game home series against the Atlanta Braves. First pitch is set for 6:45 p.m. ET.
