Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jhostynxon García

The Boston Red Sox were looking for some pitching this past offseason and found some in the form of Johan Oviedo.

Boston and the Pittsburgh Pirates came together on a five-player deal that was centered around bringing Oviedo to town. Boston acquired Oviedo, left-handed pitcher Tyler Samaniego, and catcher Adonys Guzman. Oviedo pitched in just one game for the Red Sox before landing on the Injured List. Samaniego has appeared in 15 games so far for Boston and has a 1.17 ERA. Guzman is down in the minors. Samaniego has been the biggest bright spot of the deal.

So far this season, the deal hasn't been talked about too negatively because of the fact that Samaniego has pitched very well. But losing Oviedo certainly has been a brutal blow for the deal itself.

Boston sent right-handed pitcher Jesus Travieso, who is a 19-year-old prospect, and former top prospect Jhostynxon García to Pittsburgh. García is the intriguing piece in this deal sent to the Pirates, but he began the season down in the minors, so the Red Sox haven't caught a lot of heat.

But Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that García will join the Pirates on Tuesday.

"Sources: Jhostynxon García is expected to join the Pirates tomorrow in St. Louis. 'The Password' is heading to the major leagues," Hiles wrote.

If García thrives and Oviedo isn't able to return in the foreseeable future, there is a good chance that this deal ends up being talked about in a negative light.
