Rebecca Lobo Senses Caitlin Clark’s “Power and Presence” Returning as Fever Superstar Drops 32 Points

The All-Star weekend is over, and Caitlin Clark is back doing what she does best. Clark scored 32 points in a win over the Seattle Storm on Tuesday. She also had four rebounds and seven assists. The Indiana Fever came away with a 105-95 win.

Clark has been in supreme form in the last four games. She is averaging 30.3 points, 8.8 assists, 4.3 3-pointers made, with 2.5 steals and blocks in that time period.

There has been a lot of media discourse about Clark’s season and her troubles with fouls, injuries, and officiating. She has openly called out for solutions to the issues, and many have agreed with her while many haven’t. After the Fever vs Storm clash, UConn and WNBA legend Rebecca Lobo talked about Clark’s dominance in a WNBA segment on ESPN.

“I think certainly, right now, we’re once again feeling sort of the power and the presence of Caitlin Clark when she’s playing at full speed,” Lobo said.

“We saw an incredible run from her [in] her rookie year in the second half of the season. And then this year, there’s been a little bit of fits and starts because of some of the nagging injuries she has dealt with in returning to play, but she’s been absolutely stellar and this whole team has really kind of rallied around what the big three are able to do. We saw Kelsey Mitchell tonight, Aaliyah Boston limited because of the injury that she had in the second quarter,” she added.

Probably the biggest reason for the Fever’s success so far this season has been the link-up between their top three players – Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell. Apart from Clark, the other two have also been in great form all throughout the season. Lobo also touched upon the level of comfort and groove the three share right now.

“It feels like they’re finding joy with one another. We saw it a little bit too even in the All-Star game when Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell were on opposing teams. There was still a real bond that you could see among these ladies. They have a terrific friendship, the three of them do, both on the court and off the court in terms of their chemistry. And I think especially, I would say maybe for me, in the last week or two, watching them play, there’s just a different level of comfort, a different level of chemistry, a joy that they’re finding with one another, helping each other succeed,” Lobo said (1:22).

Clark has averaged 21.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 7.9 assists in 24 games even after being under minutes restrictions for most of the season. Mitchell is averaging 23.5 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists. Last but not least, Boston has averaged 17.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
