The Minnesota Vikings could very well trade back in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday, but what if they don't? They only have four picks in the 2025 NFL Draft after they made two big moves to trade up in the 2024 NFL Draft. Of course, they went up to get their guys in quarterback J.J. McCarthy and Dallas Turner, both moves that fans seem to be very happy about.

To make a trade though, you need a partner who also wants to move up for the right price. That is not something that is always easy to come by.

We have been talking about and projecting a trade back for weeks now, but it could be harder than some people realize. The team may be forced to stay at 24, and in that scenario, we have three realistic targets for the Vikings at that spot.

Grey Zabel, OL, North Dakota State

It won't be a popular pick, but it is a sensible one. The North Dakota State offensive lineman has shown versatility playing tackle in college and then center and guard during the draft process. He is a quick learned with great physical traits. The Vikings need someone with his skillset and abilities to either compete with Blake Brandel for his spot at guard or to be a starter in the waiting. Either way, he would be a quality pick for the Vikings along their offensive line to make it one of the best groups in the entire NFL.

Nick Emmanwori, SAF, South Carolina

My projections for the Vikings if they stay at 24 are that they will go the way of the highly athletic safety, Nick Emmanwori. He has underrated ball skills, great physical attributes, and the range of a middle linebacker, along with the instincts of a safety. He is everything this team needs in the absence of Camryn Bynum, whom they lost in free agency. They are going to miss him more than they realize if they don't replace him in the draft in the coming days.

Derrick Harmon, DL, Oregon

Derrick Harmon has a case for second best pass rusher in the class. Arsenal of moves. NFL size. Really long. Very athletic. Aware of where the QB is moving. Variety of alignments.

The Oregon Duck defensive lineman is a physical game wrecker on the interior. The Vikings have Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave, whom they added in free agency, but they need one more piece. Harrison Phillips, along with the pieces they added in free agency, lacks the pass-rush ability they need on the inside. Harmon would make up for that and fit nicely with Jalen Redmond in that department.
