Labeling Josiah Trotter Jr. as 'impressive' would be an understatement. His days with the West Virginia Mountaineers yielded a Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year nod. He transferred to the SEC this past season, a conference long known for producing prominent NFL defenders. How did that go? He has apparently grabbed the Baltimore Ravens' attention while stacking a First-Team All-SEC mention.
Trotter tallied 84 total tackles, two sacks, and a pass breakup in 12 games for the Missouri Tigers last season, giving him 176 stops (including 17 tackles for loss), 2.5 sacks, an interception, and three pass breakups for his 24-game NCAA career, one he split between the two programs.
This week, he's at the NFL's largest job fair, the 2026 scouting combine. While speaking to the media from the podium, he mentioned that he has spoken with the Ravens about a formal interview.
If that conversation is any indication, interest might be mutual. The Ravens have long prioritized instinctive, physical linebackers who thrive between the tackles and embrace defensive discipline. Once upon a time, if you remember, they had a guy. Ray Lewis or something like that... Hmmm. We wonder what happened to him.
Anyway, Trotter's production across two Power Five conferences and his seamless transition into the SEC suggest he's more than just a stat-padder. He's battle-tested, scheme-versatile, and comfortable against top-tier competition.
Now, the next step is proving it translates. A strong week in Indianapolis could solidify what the tape already tells us. Trotter isn't just an intriguing prospect. He's a legitimate option for a Ravens defense that is always looking to get faster and more disruptive.
Oh, and by the way, if you're interested, he's the son of Philadelphia Eagles legend Jeremiah Trotter. His older brother, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., is currently on the Eagles' roster. He is entering his third season in the NFL.
