The Ravens now have the No. 14 overall pick, a 2027 first-round pick back, and plenty of salary cap space after a failed Maxx Crosby physical canceled their trade with the Las Vegas Raiders. Crosby was in Baltimore on Tuesday, and the move would have sent two first-round picks (in 2026 and 2027) to the Raiders. Crosby recently had knee surgery in Las Vegas prior to the season, and he needed to pass a physical before the deal could be officially confirmed.

With the NFL world starting to react to the fallout, here's an instant analysis of the news as the Ravens work to regroup and continue retooling their roster for 2026.

This has happened before

In 2018, in a much less publicized deal, the Ravens agreed to terms with free agent wide receiver Ryan Grant, but didn't go through with signing him because of an ankle issue. It happened again with Michael Brockers in 2020.

Crosby has been in Baltimore

According to Jeff Zrebiec, Crosby has been in Baltimore for a few days now, likely had his physical on Tuesday, and the deal fell through hours before the start of the 2026 new league year.

More losses

Baltimore has already suffered nine free-agent losses, and they'll now work to regroup and add edge-rusher talent via free agency or the NFL draft. Could the Ravens pivot to former Bengals pass rusher Trey Hendrickson?
