There’s no buyer’s remorse about this trade. The Los Angeles Rams and Kansas City Chiefs officially completed their blockbuster trade involving All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie on Wednesday, announcing the deal at the start of the new league year.

In exchange for McDuffie, the Rams are sending the Chiefs a first-, fifth- and sixth-round pick in the 2026 draft, as well as a third-rounder in 2027. Additionally, they’re signing him to a four-year, $124 million extension, which will kick in after his fifth-year option in 2026.

His new contract will make him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history, with an average salary of $31 million per year.

McDuffie was a first-team All-Pro in 2023 and a second-teamer in 2024, emerging as one of the premier corners in football. He has inside-outside versatility, is a phenomenal tackler and blitzer, and excels in man coverage.

After acquiring McDuffie, the Rams also signed former Chiefs cornerback Jaylen Watson in free agency, reuniting the two teammates in Los Angeles. That gives the Rams two quality corners for defensive coordinator Chris Shula to work with, a major upgrade over what Los Angeles had at the position last season.
