The Washington Wizards selected AJ Dybantsa at No. 1 in the 2026 NBA Draft. His addition gives the team a three-headed monster along with Trae Young and Anthony Davis. The 6-foot-9 forward starred for BYU last season and showcased his elite skill set.
Washington also has some young, talented players who are ready to prove their worth. Underdog NBA posted the Wizards’ projected starting lineup for the 2026-27 season on X.

However, fans still do not believe the franchise will contend any time soon. Some also lowered their projections for the upcoming campaign
“What are the chances they all stay healthy?” one user wrote.
“Two bigs who doesn’t wanna play center …. A shooting guard who is scared to shoot and Trae young … good luck,” a comment read.
“Will change in 5 games max ( ad out months with an random injury ),” one fan said.
“It looks amazing on paper, but we gotta see them on court first,” posted another.
“is alex sarr actually a center?” another fan commented.
“I want to get excited but one of AD or Trae is always gonna be hurt,” a reaction read.

The Wizards finished with the worst record in the league at 17-65 last season. They allowed their young roster to gain a lot of experience and traded for Young and Davis midseason.
Alex Sarr, Bilal Coulibaly and Kyshawn George tried their best to lead the team to wins, but their youth and inexperience showed. The good news is they will start next season with a complete and healthy roster and could make some noise in the Eastern Conference. The only way for the team to go is up, with its newly-formed “Big 3” leading the charge.
