Penn State football will have a completely overhauled roster to get to know in 2026 under new head coach Matt Campbell. Following one of the most active offseasons in recent memory for Penn State with a flurry of activity in the transfer portal, fans will have a lot of catching up to do in getting to know this year's Penn State roster. Fortunately, not every face will be brand new to fans. Regardless, we will be here to give you a fresh overview of every player on the roster for the 2026 season with a series of player profiles.
From all of the returning players, a long list of new faces from the transfer portal, and incoming recruits from the Class of 2026, we will have you covered with this year's player profiles for the Penn State roster. Here is a quick look at safety Marcus Neal Jr. for the 2026 season.
Class of 2024: Considered either a 3- or 4-star depending on the recruiting organization. No. 33 ranked safety, per 247sports
Marcus Neal Jr. received just one other offer from a Power 4 school besides Iowa State. Now a consensus four-star transfer prospect, he joins the Nittany Lions.
Neal Jr. was a major contributor in the secondary across his two seasons at Iowa State. He combined for 95 tackles, 11 of which were for a loss, three passes defensed, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.
Neal Jr. is a do-it-all safety who should have a big role in Penn State’s secondary. In an era of football where versatility is at the forefront, the third-year defender fits the bill perfectly.
Neal Jr. earned First-team All-Conference honors on both sides of the ball in his senior year of high school.
