Eugen Polanski will remain Borussia Mönchengladbach coach for the time being, new sporting director Rouven Schröder said during his presentation on Thursday.

"We're not setting ourselves a time frame. We're convinced that Eugen Polanski radiates positivity and is our head coach. He makes a good impression," Schröder said.

Polanski, the under-23 coach, initially took over on an interim basis after Gerardo Seoane was dismised last month. However, he still couldn't lead the club to the first win of the league season.

Ahead of the match against Union Berlin on Friday, Gladbach are second last in the standings with three defeats and three draws in six games.

Schröder, meanwhile, was signed as a replacement to Roland Virkus, who stepped down last month.

"I was instantly convinced that this was the right step to take," said Schröder, who was previously sporting director at Red Bull Salzburg.
