Cade Cunningham's game against the Washington Wizards ended sooner than anticipated Tuesday night inside Capital One Arena. During the second quarter, the Pistons announced that the All-NBA guard would not return to the game due to back spasms.

Cunningham sustained the injury early in the first quarter while diving for a loose ball after Wizards guard Tre Johnson lost control of his dribble. He hit the ground and got up gingerly after making slight contact with Johnson.

Cunningham continued to play for a few minutes after a hard fall but was substituted out for Marcus Sasser during coach J.B. Bickerstaff's first substitution of the night at the 6:40 mark of the period.

There is currently no further update on Cunningham's injury. He finished the game with five minutes of playing time, scoring six points on 2-of-3 shooting.
