Now THAT is how you debut.

It’s a rather nice feeling that both of the players that the Phillies are entrusting with important roles this year – Justin Crawford and Andrew Painter – got off to good starts in their first game rather than the duds that could have happened. We’d have all been fine expecting both to fall flat on their face in their first ever MLB games, but both came out and performed.

• It’s apparently extension season for all prospects that aren’t in the majors. Cooper Pratt was the first one to agree to a deal Monday with the Brewers.
• Then, on Tuesday, Colt Emerson broke a record by getting $95 million guaranteed from the Mariners.
• J.D. Martinez got a job with the Mets as a special assistant now that no teams will give him a playing contract.
