Kyle Schwarber is leading Major League Baseball in home runs this season.

On Tuesday night, the Philadelphia Phillies' slugger launched his 31st homer of the season.

And yeah, it wasn't cheap. They never are.

It was a 3-0 count, too, which isn't a time that Schwarber often swings.

That's not the key to this one, though.

It just adds to the home runs Schwarber has in his fifth season with the Phillies. If he keeps this up, he'll set the MLB record for most homers hit in a player's first five seasons with a team.

Babe Ruth with the Yankees holds this record right now, according to MLB.com's Sarah Langs -- he hit 235 in his first five years with the Yanks.

Second on that list all time is Mark McGwire, who had 220 home runs in his first five seasons with the Cardinals.

Schwarber is up to 218 and counting with the Phillies since coming aboard in 2022. As long as he's healthy, he'll pass Ruth.

It's amazing that Ruth's record has stood this long, and it's amazing that Schwarber has a chance to pass him. An absolutely special slugger.
