Jesus Luzardo had an absolutely hilarious moment while discussing the ABS system after a recent outing for the Philadelphia Phillies, and it feels like no one is talking about it.

Luzardo was great in the outing, just as he’s been throughout his career. However, that wasn’t the fun part, as the left-hander couldn’t help but laugh when talking about how quickly he broke a promise he made with J.T. Realmuto.

"I told [Realmuto] I'd never challenge one all year, and I didn't even last an inning," said Luzardo, per Paul Casella of MLB.com. "I think I've got to tell myself to stop a little bit, but I'm for sure leaving it in his hands. I trust him completely."

With the ABS system giving teams opportunities to question ball and strike calls, a connection between pitchers and catchers has become even more important. It’s probably best for Luzard to let Realmuto do the challenging.

Luzardo’s joke highlighted the adjustment many players are still making as the system becomes used in MLB.

Still, Luzardo’s outing itself was encouraging for Philadelphia. Recording five strikeouts across three scoreless innings shows the type of swing-and-miss ability that has made him such an intriguing arm in the Phillies’ rotation.

He believes he’s in a good spot and is looking forward to helping a team with a chance to win it all.

“I'm in a different position in the sense that last year I was coming in off an injury, and I feel like I was kind of a flier for them,” Luzardo said. “So I wouldn't call it pressure, but I think I put some extra emphasis on being a stable piece in this rotation until Wheels gets back.”
