Monday night's Home Run Derby was yet another chapter for Philadelphia sports fan legend.

In a thrilling finish to the most memorable Home Run Derby in years, Jordan Walker of the St. Louis Cardinals bested hometown slugger Kyle Schwarber to dash fans' hopes of a dream ending. Walker wasn't the only opposing batter booed by the Philadelphia faithful during the event, but his six-straight home runs to end it were such an impressive show that it had the home crowd stunned.

Walker's heroics and Philadelphia fans' energy made for quite the eventful night, but when the dust settled, there seemed to be quite a heartwarming result forming. Philly sports fans expressed newfound respect for Walker's skill and even cheered on his father after the final home run left the fence.

This is what they won’t talk about when it comes to Philly…

What an amazing moment from last night. Jordan Walker & his family seem like some of the coolest people alive - Hard not to be happy for them. Legit impossible to not be romantic about baseball. pic.twitter.com/JHCsGYCsBR

On the flip side, Walker was incredibly positive about his reception from the Philly faithful, calling the crowd "brutal" but recognized the special moment all the same.

“Philly was brutal. But it’s special because they love their players…that’s what you want, you know?”

“I can’t hate them because that’s their hometown. That’s their guy”

Walker's family also gave Philadelphia fans props for how they treated them while in the stands, with Walker's father tipping his cap to Phillies fans for the atmosphere they created.

Philadelphia fans might garner a specific reputation from sports fans, but at the end of the day, the city respects athletes who try their best and leave it all out on the field. And after Monday night, it's fair to say Philadelphia fans will hold Walker in higher regard after his performance.
