New England Patriots rookie wide receiver Kyle Williams has a lofty goal heading into the 2025 season, and he didn't shy away from it when speaking with media members.
The former Washington State standout wants to be more than just a great receiver at the next level. He wants to work on his craft and improve to the point where people recognize him as one of the elite.
"I feel like at this position, it's a craft. It's an art, and you've got to take pride in your art," said Williams. "Just being able to have those little details is what's going to turn you from great to elite, and I'm trying to be elite."
Williams is arguably the best separator at receiver in the 2025 NFL draft class. He tallied 70 catches for 1,198 yards and 14 touchdowns in his final year with the Cougars.
The Patriots have struggled to find and develop wide receiver talent in recent years. They're hopeful that Williams' explosive playmaking abilities help him hit the ground running in the NFL.
He could factor into the offense early in his first season, especially if he can consistently get open against top defenders. Last Wednesday, he had the play of the day reception in competitive 11-on-11s at the open OTAs practice. All of the tools are there for Williams to make good on his NFL goal.
He just needs to put it together on the football field.
