The New England Patriots have had plenty to deal with this NFL offseason but not all of it has been football-related.
Head coach Mike Vrabel has found himself at the center of a personal controversy that has followed the team through the NFL Draft and into the early stages of offseason preparation.

Photos of Vrabel and former The Athletic reporter Dianna Russini spending time together at an Arizona resort surfaced earlier this month. Both said they were there with separate groups. Russini has since resigned from The Athletic.
Then images from 2020 showing the two kissing at a bar came to light and the story took on a new dimension.
Vrabel addressed the situation publicly, saying he is working to improve for his family and the organization. He also missed Day 3 of the NFL Draft to attend counseling.
The controversy refuses to die down. Recently, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was asked about it by 7 News Boston WHDH’s Jonathan Hall. He did not hesitate before standing behind his coach.
“We’re here for coach, we love coach and what he does for us, and has done for us this past year,” Maye said. “You can’t speak it into words, and thankfully, he’s our head coach. We know he’s dealing with some stuff off the field and out of the coaching world but we’re here for him and I know he’s gonna come back.”

Vrabel missing draft day was hard to overlook. He acknowledged he wasn’t sure if he’d need to step away from additional team activities going forward.
That kind of uncertainty isn’t easy for any organization to manage. For now, Vrabel still has his quarterback, Drake Maye, in his corner.
