The 27-year wait is finally over.

For the first time since 1999, the New York Knicks are going to the NBA Finals.

New York wrapped up its rampage through the Eastern Conference by completely dominating the Cleveland Cavaliers 130-93 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals on May 25.

The Knicks got contributions from everyone who stepped on the floor, much the way it's been throughout this miraculous playoff run.

Of course it starts with Jalen Brunson, who had 15 points and didn't play a minute of the fourth quarter as the Knicks stretched their lead to over 30 points.

Karl-Anthony Towns had 19 points and 14 rebounds, OG Anunoby had 17 points, Landry Shamet scored 16, Mikal Bridges had 15 and Miles McBride had 11. Josh Hart scored 6 points and 11 rebounds.

How Knicks reached the NBA Finals

The magical run for the Knicks, who entered the postseason as the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference, started off rocky. They lost two close games to the Atlanta Hawks to go down 2-1 in the first round.

However, the Knicks turned it on in a major way as they won 11 consecutive games to get over the hump in the Eastern Conference. New York won three straight to close out the Hawks, swept the Philadelphia 76ers in dominating fashion and then made easy work of the Cavaliers.

When was the last time Knicks were in NBA Finals?

After two straight trips to the Eastern Conference Finals, these Knicks now have a chance to win it all. The team's last appearance in the NBA Finals came in 1999, but it ended in a five-game defeat to the San Antonio Spurs.

Patrick Ewing missed the Finals that season after suffering a partially torn Achilles' tendon during the Eastern Conference Finals. The Knicks did make NBA history that season, becoming the first No. 8-seed to reach the Finals.

The Knicks could actually get redemption against the Spurs as San Antonio takes on the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. Both teams won over 60 games in the regular season and would have home-court advantage in the finals.
