The Carolina Panthers and general manager Dan Morgan got the jump they were looking for on Friday night.
Instead of staying put with their second-round pick of the 2025 NFL draft, the Panthers agreed to a pretty extensive trade with the Denver Broncos to move up. The deal sent the 51st overall pick, 85th overall pick, 122nd overall pick and 208th overall pick to Carolina in exchange for the 57th overall pick, 74th overall pick, 111th overall pick and 230th overall pick.
And with that 51st selection, the Panthers drafted Texas A&M pass rusher Nic Scourton.
The 6-foot-3, 257-pounder amassed 17.0 sacks over a three-year college career. Before transferring to play for the Aggies this past season, he notched a Big Ten-leading 10.0 sacks with Purdue in 2023.
Scourton was named a first-team All-SEC member in 2024 and a second-team All-Big Ten member the year prior.
