The Green Bay Packers released a long-time starter on the first legal tampering day of NFL free agency.

According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Packers are releasing center Elgton Jenkins, whose seven-year run with the team has come to an end.

"BREAKING: The #Packers are releasing 2x Pro Bowl C Elgton Jenkins, per sources," Schultz said. "He’s expected to have a strong market."

Jenkins has started 94 games in his career, but an injury-riddled 2025 campaign sealed his fate with the Packers.

Jenkins has experience playing center and left guard, so he'll have a competitive market in free agency. The New York Giants, Las Vegas Raiders, and Minnesota Vikings could be teams that pursue the veteran offensive lineman.

New York could use an upgrade at center over John Michael Schmitz Jr. at center, and Jenkins would provide that. He allowed just two sacks and 10 quarterback pressures over eight starts in 2025.

Las Vegas added Tyler Linderbaum in free agency to serve as the starter at center, but they also have a need at left guard with Dylan Parham still on the market. Jenkins could step in as the starter on the left side and be a solid contributor.

Minnesota lost its starting center, Ryan Kelly, to retirement. Signing Jenkins to replace Kelly would be a savvy move by the Vikings, and give the unit some much-needed experience.

Jenkins getting released should spark a bidding war among a plethora of teams, and the Giants, Raiders, and Vikings should have interest.
