An update from Adam Schefter of ESPN: Ed Policy and the Green Bay Packers are expected to complete contract extensions with coach Matt LaFleur and general manager Brian Gutekunst.
Policy, LaFleur and Gutekunst have been working over the last week to figure out a resolution on the contract front for both the coach and general manager, who were scheduled to enter the final year of their respective contracts in 2026. An extension would keep the trio together long term in Green Bay.
Schefter wrote that "all signs now point to them staying together."
"Multiple sources told ESPN that they would be surprised if the Packers don't complete extensions with both LaFleur and Gutekunst," wrote Schefter.
More work on the contract front is expected this weekend, making it possible an agreement arrives before the start of next week.
Policy, the team's president and CEO, is making the first big decision of his tenure. He took over for Mark Murphy last July.
The Packers have won 76 regular season games and qualified for the postseason in six of seven years under the duo of LaFleur and Gutekunst. LaFleur was hired in 2019, a year after Gutekunst took over as the general manager. However, the Packers haven't won an NFC North title since 2021 and have just one playoff win since 2020.
The Packers ended the 2025 season losing four straight regular season games and then blew a 21-3 halftime lead in a playoff loss to the Chicago Bears a week ago.
