The Packers’ secondary is going to look dramatically different this season.
After a major overhaul in the cornerback room, and investing a second-round pick in the position during April’s NFL Draft, there is going to be significant competition for starting jobs, and for snaps during OTA practices this spring and training camp later this summer.

One Packers veteran who has the most to gain, could be Javon Bullard, who according to AtoZ Sports’ Wendell Ferraira, is among the veterans across Green Bay’s roster with the most to gain, and the most to prove this season.
“Defensive back Javon Bullard had some strong moments,” Ferraira writes for AtoZ. “As the starting slot corner last season, but the Packers at least had Nate Hobbs as an alternative. With Hobbs released, Bullard becomes the unquestioned starter in the slot. Green Bay signed Benjamin St-Juste and drafted Brandon Cisse, but those two players project more as boundary corners.
“This is a massive season for Bullard beyond the on-field role. After 2026, he’ll be eligible for a contract extension. The Packers will have to decide how to allocate long-term money among Xavier McKinney, Evan Williams, and Bullard in the secondary. His performance this year will shape that decision significantly.”
How Bullard performs from the slot won’t just help dictate the trajectory of new coordinator Jonathan Gannon’s defense, but could determine just how significant a commitment the Packers make to him moving forward from here.
