NORMAN — A week after receiving her "Golden Ticket" for the Athletes Unlimited Softball League draft, Oklahoma pitcher Sam Landry was selected first overall by the Volts.

Landry, who transferred from Louisiana before the season, is 18-4 with a 2.10 ERA and 147 strikeouts in 143 ⅔ innings. Landry allowed four runs and struck out five in OU's loss to Florida on Saturday.

She was one of the 12 players selected in the draft, which featured three rounds with four picks each. Landry will join former Sooners star Tiare Jennings on the Volts.

The AUSL will play games this summer featuring Jennings, Landry and former OU star Sydney Romero (Talons) June 20-23 at Love's Field.

The AUSL’s four teams – the Bandits, Blaze, Talons and Volts– will play 24 games each between June 7 and July 23, culminating with the top two teams competing in the AUSL Championship, a best-of-three series held July 26-28 at Alabama’s Rhoads Stadium.

Following the AUSL Championship, 60 players will compete for an individual championship in the AUSL All-Star Cup, a 24-game competition in August featuring the innovative Athletes Unlimited scoring system.
