Oregon Duck fans have been waiting for this day on the calendar for quite some time now, and not just for the tacos and margaritas that typically come with a Cinco de Mayo celebration on a sunny day in Eugene. For quite some time now, this has been the day when 5-star quarterback Jared Curtis was slated to announce his commitment between the Georgia Bulldogs and Oregon.
There were times when this day was met with anticipation and excitement as it looked like the Ducks were the team to beat for the No. 1 QB in the 2026 class, but ultimately, it resulted in frustration for Oregon. Curtis announced on Monday afternoon that he would commit to Georgia again, making it the second time that the Ducks have lost out on him after he previously chose the Bulldogs but decommitted last fall.
This recruitment was said to have come down to the wire, with Curtis filming two commitment videos and leaving his decision up in the air until this weekend. In the end, he chose to stick close to home and commit to Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs.
For the Ducks, it's somewhat of a wake-up call in this 2026 cycle that started out on such a high note with the No. 1 ranked class in the nation earlier this year. Over the past few months, though, Oregon has seen a number of decommitments and flips, and now have fallen well outside of the top 10 of the recruiting rankings.
Unsurprisingly, this news did not sit well with Duck fans. Here's a look at how some of them reacted on social media.
