The Tennessee Titans spent much of the offseason focused on fixing weaknesses across the roster. According to ESPN, one of those efforts was successful enough to earn national attention.

ESPN NFL analyst Ben Solack ranked the Titans' wide receivers in the top five of his ranking of the biggest NFL position upgrades this offseason. For a franchise coming off a disappointing year, the recognition serves as validation that Tennessee's front office aggressively addressed several of its biggest concerns.

Head coach Robert Saleh inherited a roster with holes on both sides of the ball and a young quarterback in Cam Ward who needed a stronger supporting cast. With the help of general manager Mike Borgonzi, they made upgrading the wide receiver group a priority.

The Titans' social media team understood the assignment when they captured a photo of their new wide receiver group alongside Cam Ward. Transitioning their two fourth-round rookies from last season down the depth chart with a veteran addition in Wan'Dale Robinson and the fourth overall pick, Carnell Tate, makes their group deeper.

However, the Titans' restructuring of Calvin Ridley's contract to keep him aboard was just as big as the additions of Robinson and Tate. Ridley struggled as the WR1 last season before a season-ending injury limited him to only seven games played. But keeping him around as either a WR2 or WR3 as a three-time 1,000-yard wide receiver raises the ceiling of their revamped group significantly.

Depth often separates average teams from playoff contenders as injuries are inevitable over a 17-game season. Now, the Titans have Elic Ayomanor and Chimere Dike as WR4 and WR5 after gaining much experience as two of their three primary targets during their rookie seasons last year.

There is an excitement level for the Titans' new wide receiver group that hasn't been there since they traded A.J. Brown in 2022. The next step will be proving it on the field. If the improved position group performs as expected, the Titans could find themselves taking a significant step forward in 2026.
