Ole Miss basketball will look to bounce back from an atrocious campaign last season, and it will have a tough SEC schedule to contend against on top of it all.
The Rebels posted a sub .500 record last year after Chris Beard had a remarkable run in the 2024-25 season ending with a Sweet Sixteen run. Beard and his coaching staff completely revamped its roster for the 2025-2026 season, but it had to turn around and blow up much of the roster again for the 2026-2027 season.
SEC basketball and its 16-team league schedules every team to play the other 15 once and three teams twice – two of those teams permanent and one rotating annually. In 2027, the Rebels will face Kentucky, Auburn and Mississippi State twice this season.

Right now, the back to back SEC road trips look to be pretty unmanageable especially early on. The Rebels may open SEC play with a win at home against Georgia, but the three road trips right after will be tough asks. Starting off 1-3 would be best case scenario as we’re sitting here six months out, but a lot can change between now and then which goes without saying.
Everyone is focused on the upcoming football season so much more than basketball, but this tough SEC schedule should further confirm you if you’re a casual fan you can tune things out until after bowl season is concluded.
