The Oklahoma Sooners blew a six-point lead in the final 30 seconds of regulation but made the plays in overtime to come up with an 88-82 win over the Texas Longhorns. The Sooners keep their March Madness hopes alive with their fourth-straight win.
The Sooners sent Texas to the free throw line on multiple three-point attempts to allow the Longhorns back into the game. Jordan Pope hit all three free throws to tie the game at 77 and send it to overtime.
In overtime, the Sooners opened the scoring on a layup by Derion Reid. Nijel Pack made a couple of free throws, and then Pope scored five straight for Texas, including a three that gave the Longhorns a one-point lead with just over a minute to play in the game.
Coming out of a timeout, Pack missed a quick three-pointer, but Mohamed Wague was there to tip it in and give the Sooners a one-point lead. Pope missed on the ensuing possession for Texas. Late in Oklahoma's next offensive possession, Xzayvier Brown drove the lane and kicked it out to the corner, where Reid knocked down the three to give the Sooners a four-point lead. A couple of Pack free throws created the six-point difference in the Red River Shootout.
Four Oklahoma Sooners scored in double figures, led by Pack's 23 and Brown's 21. Tae Davis added 14 and nine rebounds and Reid finished with 11, including his five points in overtime. Wague contributed eight points despite battling foul trouble throughout.
