It was a fruitful 2026 NFL Draft for the Oklahoma Sooners, with seven players selected. That number is the most since 2022, and the most under head coach Brent Venables. However, not all of OU's draft-eligible players were chosen in the three-day event, and they're looking to continue their careers in another way.
That's the case for defensive lineman Damonic Williams, who has signed a contract with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent. Williams spent two seasons in Norman, after transferring in from TCU. While not always the flashiest player up front for the Sooners, he was a two-year starter at defensive tackle who was an excellent run-stuffer, and one of the anchors of the d-line.
As a senior captain in 2025, Williams tallied 27 total tackles, 4.5 TFLs, and 1.5 sacks, helping to make the defensive front one of the strengths of OU's entire team. He was a big transfer portal victory for Venables and defensive tackles coach Todd Bates two springs ago, and he's been instrumental in turning Oklahoma's defensive line into an SEC-ready group.
Williams' football days continue on at the next level, as he will now head to the desert, where he'll look to make an impression and try to make the roster for the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent.
