Oh, Hello: Charlie Michaud Commits to Penn State Hockey

Entering this week, Penn State hockey had replaced two of its three outgoing defensemen but still needed one more depth piece to round out the blue line. The Nittany Lions got their wish with a commitment from Charlie Michaud on Tuesday:

Michaud is transferring in from Miami (OH), where he played just six games in the 2025-26 season. He averaged nearly 13 minutes of ice time and did not record a point in his six games with the Redhawks. He joined the Penticton Vees of the WHL in late December and tallied 15 assists in 35 games. Michaud is expected to join Penn State for the 2026-27 season.

Penn State now has an even balance of left-handed (Smith, Gadowsky, Fascia, Michaud) and right-handed (Collins, Aman, Herrington, Weber) defensemen on the roster.

The Nittany Lions now have a full roster with the recruiting class and incoming transfers factored in. If Gavin McKenna leaves for the NHL, one roster spot will become available, and Penn State will likely try to add one more forward.
