Back in the 2018-19 season, OG Anunoby was on the Toronto Raptors. He was superb for the team, but an injury sidelined him from the NBA Finals run. Anunoby did not get to play in the Finals against the Golden State Warriors, but he does have a championship ring.

Now that he is in the Finals again with the New York Knicks, he is excited to be playing on the NBA's biggest stage finally. It will be a blockbuster series against the San Antonio Spurs, and Anunoby should make an impact.

OG Anunoby is happy to finally play in the NBA Finals for the first time

Anunoby has dealt with an injury during the 2026 Playoffs. He has returned to the Knicks, and he has been a valuable contributor ever since he made his return. Now, he is raring to go for the first-ever NBA Finals he can play in.

He will be one of the most important players on the Knicks, especially with how his size and defensive ability can help them guard Victor Wembanyama. He has the physicality to keep up with the Spurs' superstar, so he will have a huge role in the Finals.

In 2019, it was Kawhi Leonard, Kyle Lowry, and the rest of the Raptors who went out there and beat the Warriors. It was one of the most surprising runs of all time, as they beat the Warriors superteam.

Anunoby could not take part in the 2019 Finals, so he wants to make the most of this latest opportunity. At the same time, he also wants to showcase how much he has grown over the years.

"I was a young player last time I was back, so grown a lot on and off the court, and as a player. The first time it was really cool, but it wasn't the way I would have wanted it. So this time, just happy to be here, happy to be healthy," Anunoby said ahead of Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

As Anunoby continues to grow with the Knicks, he will play a massive role in their title bid. They will be playing against a titan of a team in the Spurs, but the Knicks have the advantage when it comes to experience and veteran savvy.
